End of Life Care Level 1 (VTQ) Training Videos

In this first section we introduce you to your End of Life Care course and explain how it works. We then talk to you about what end of life care is, including some statistics, and then the different pieces of legislation which have to be taken into account when working in end of life care.

There are 7 core principles, and these should be adhered to by all workers working in palliative and end of life care. In this section we talk through these common core principles in more detail.

In this section you will learn about communication skills surrounding end of life care, and assessment and care planning. We then talk to you about how to manage the symptoms of the illness in the best way possible, and to provide support to try and keep the patient as comfortable as possible as the end of life approaches. Finally, we talk to you about an Advanced Care Plan, which is often called an ACP.

In this penultimate section we talk you through wills, living will and advanced decisions. We will then talk you through grief, and the 4 stages of bereavement.

In the summary, we summarise the course and explain how the final test works. We also give you further information about the course resources which are available before and after taking the final test. With all our courses you have access for 8 months.
